Prof. Dr. Oliver Koch, born in 1970, founded CTI CONSULTING with his partner Guido W. Stass after studying economics.
He is Vice President (Prorektor) Digital Transformation and Dean of the IT Management division at FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics & Management in Essen, as well as Director of the ifid – Institute for IT Management & Digitalization at FOM in Düsseldorf, where he also holds a professorship in Information Systems. In addition, he taught for 20 years at the University of Kasselwith a focus on ERP systems and SAP, Enterprise Architecture Management, business process and project management, and consulting methodologies.
He supports companies in national and international transformation programmes, combining analysis and target-state design with architecture and organisational design as well as project and programme steering—up to board-ready decision papers. His current focus areas include digital transformation, enterprise and IT strategy, business process management, workflow management, and in particular Intelligent Process Automation (IPA), as well as bringing artificial intelligence into enterprise practice (including Agentic AI, context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and architecture/platform strategies for generative AI). In SAP consulting, his strengths lie in implementation scenarios, SAP Business Workflow, and the design of complex application systems—including strategic direction-setting.
Prof. Koch earned his doctorate in Information Systems alongside his professional work, on methods for the strategy-oriented introduction of complex software systems, and is certified as an SAP® R/3® Application Consultant (SAP® Business Workflow), as a management consultant CMC/BDU (including strategic corporate planning), in TOGAF (The Open Group), and as a COBIT 4.1 Practitioner (ISACA).
He has contributed in both business and academia as a reviewer/expert and in the support of start-ups.
At CTI CONSULTING, Prof. Koch co-founded the company in 1991 and serves as Co-CEO, primarily responsible for the company’s strategic direction and commercial management; he also drives the further development of the portfolio towards process automation and applied AI (architecture, governance, and PoCs through to board-ready decision maturity).
